Week 40

Our Ward Christmas Party was held at the home of the Primary President whose husband works at the US Embassy.  She wrote a Christmas program and made costumes for the Primary children.  It was absolutely amazing!  The African children had never been part of a Nativity presentation.  Many hearts were touched as the children sang and spoke about the birth of Jesus Christ.

We served the food.  BBQ chicken, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, Waldorf salad,                         lots of cold watermelon and chocolate chip cookies.  We made the beans, salads and                                                                dessert.  We had such a good time.

This is my little angel nursery student, Lorraine, who I have written about often.  I                                                                     just love being around her.

Decorating cookies and eating the end result

Trying to figure out how to see through her mask.  She is a lamb.  A                                                                         shepherd is next to her and a wise man is behind.

This is her mother, Rosemary, and her brother, Bradley.  Rosemary was baptized years ago but had quit coming to church during the pandemic and ended up not coming back when it was over.  A ward member visited her in January and invited her to come back.  She did so the next Sunday and has been there every Sunday since.  Bradley had memorized all of his speaking parts and was such a good shephard and Inn Keeper.

I am loving working at the front desk.  I get to see so many people everyday and love interacting with the young missionaries.  This is one of the Assistants to the President.  His companion told me he does a great impersonation of me including my Southern accent.  I wish I could put a video on here so you could hear it.  I laughed until I almost cried.  A picture will have to suffice.  Sister Graham nailed the accent as well.

Two senior sisters leave tomorrow, Bonnie and Lori.  They will be so missed.  We five senior sisters have become such good friends.  There will be three of us now.  Five couples will be coming in the next two months but no senior single sisters.

We had a farewell dinner at the mission home with all of the senior missionaries.  What a great group of people and so much fun to be around.

                                                                         Just the girls

I am so excited that I will be able to attend the Johannesburg Temple on January 7.  I will be attending the sealing of my friend, Fortunate, when she and her husband  receive their endowments and are sealed with their 3 children. He works at the temple site and was baptized as a result of the teaching done be Elder and Sister Anderson.  Fortunate and her family will take a bus and the Andersons and I will fly.  I have not been to a temple since February and am feeling a great spiritual hunger to return.
