Week 60

Diana left on Friday.  I will miss her greatly.  We became very good friends.  But I do have the house to myself until the week before I leave. I like that.  We had a nice going away dinner for her the Sunday before she left.  I did a "roast" and poked fun at the both of us.  It was a fun send off in honor of a great woman.

With President and Sister Davis the day she left.

That same Sunday morning, we went back to the Borrowdale Ward where we served from May- December 2024 so she could say goodbye to the many friends we had met there.  I served in Nursery and Diana in Primary.  This little girl was so excited to see her when we got out of the car that she came and jumped in her arms.

I loved being back there so much and felt that was where I needed to serve until I leave in August.  President Davis agreed, so I will be teaching the younger children and help train some others how to teach young Primary children.  I was not scheduled to teach today but went prepared in case I was needed.  I ended up teaching and felt so happy doing so.  I sat with Rosemary, Bradley and Lorraine.  Lorraine is the little girl who I taught in Nursery when I was there previously and who ran up to me at the end of Sacrament every week.  She and I bonded.  I went to their house today to take some things Diana had left.  The two little children to the left are their neighbors.

Here is a picture of Lorraine I posted many months ago.  I love it.

After church and before going to Rosemary's house, I went with the young sister missionaries for a discussion with a 19 year old single adult young woman.  They have been teaching her for a while and asked her if she would like to be baptized on May 25.  She eagerly said yes.  Her sister and an neighbor joined in with the discussion.  We sat outside of their very small house, about the size of a single garage.  They gave us the 3 chairs and they sat on the ground.  I look forward to the baptism.
As I listened to the discussion, I thought about how the gathering of Israel is happening so rapidly in Zimbabwe.  Then this mamma came along with her babies and I recalled the Savior talking about how he would gather his people as a hen gathers her chicks.  It all seemed quite symbolic to me.

Sister Davis was driving some American missionaries to the airport at the end of their missions a few months ago and learned they had been here for 18-24 months and had never seen giraffes, elephants or zebras.  So that wouldn't be the case with future missionaries, she and President Davis decided to treat the missionaries to a trip to the Lion Park.  Half of them went on one Monday and the other half on the next Monday (p-day).  They all loved it!  Here is a video of one of the Mondays with half of our missionaries.
