Week 24

Here are a few of the many baptism pictures we get each week.  There are usually over 200 baptisms per month in the mission.  The missionaries stay so busy teaching everyday.  The people who are baptised are so thankful for their new found knowledge of our Savior Jesus Christ.

One of our security guards at the Mission Office, Abigail, wanted to learn about what we believe.  Sisters Campbell and Lupili taught her.  She was baptised about a month ago.  She was disappointed because she had to work every Sunday and could not go to church.  One of the other guards offered to trade days with her and she is loving getting to know her new ward family.

These sisters arrived this week.  I interviewed them to determine if they needed help with English.  They do not.  They told me about why they chose to serve a mission.  Their stories were edifying to hear.  One was attending FSY and received a prompting to serve.  Another was sitting in Sacrament Meeting when she felt the prompting.  One is the first Sister to serve in her district.  After she received her call, many other Young Women decided to serve.  Her Stake President told her that she was a pioneer and that others had followed her example.  I love rubbing shoulders with such amazing young missionaries.

Sister Lupili was transferred on Monday.  The Mission Office was in her area so I saw her frequently as she and her companion stopped by to get water or use the restroom (it is a walking area).  I will miss her.  Her hugs were the best.

This is my roommate, Diana.  Two weeks ago, she decided to change her schedule at the office so she could join me on my morning walk.  She is much shorter than I am but she can MOVE ON DOWN THE ROAD.  I told her to set the pace and now I am walking much faster than I ever did on my own.  I love it!  We have plenty of time to talk at home and at the office so we don't talk while we walk (uses too much energy).  She listens to her music and I listen to an audio book. We leave as soon as it is light, currently about 5:50, and walk for an hour.  We love the waves and hellos we get from those we encounter, many of whom we see every day.

Today marks my 6 month mark.  I will be coming home in one year.  I do enjoy being here, but I imagine being home every day.
