Week 69

We often hear that the Church is "exploding" in Africa.  Our total baptisms in the Zimbabwe Harare Mission is projected to be around 3500 for 2025.  I am so thankful to be a part of this work.  I am not out gathering Israel like the young missionaries, but I act in a supporting role, as do all of the senior missionaries, to make sure they have all they need to bring the message of the Restored Gospel to the people here.  I love what I do.

It is particularly special when families are baptized together.

This is Morgan Choi, our Primary President who was just released.  Her husband works at the US Embassy and they are leaving to back to US where he will work in Maryland.  She has 2 little girls and is pregnant with twin boys.  She and her family have been so loved by all of the members of our ward, especially those in Primary.  Those who serve in Primary gave her a surprise going away party yesterday at her house.  Her husband took the family on an outing while we got everything set up. She was so touched by this and told me it meant so much to her.

The sisters worked so hard to prepare a delicious Zimbabwe feast. Notice the peanut butter and honey sandwiches I brought.  I thought they would be a hit with the children.  They were not.  That is not what they are used to eating.

I gave Lorraine a bite of sandwich encouraging her to try it.  She grimaced and spit it out.  I asked what she wanted.  Sadza and greens please.  She ate 3 little cups.

The greens are unlike any I have ever tasted.  Not like turnips, collards, spinach or kale.  They have a taste all of their own.

These are cows hooves, a delicacy in Zimbabwe.  They insisted I try them.  I managed to pretend I ate some.

Jesus IS a God of miracles!
