Week 63 - 64
This is Sister Bell. She is one of the Stake Relief Society Presidents in one of the stakes in the mission. A few years ago, she started a program whereby the sisters in the stake can bring their young children to their ward or branch building every 3 months to have them weighed and measured to keep track of their growth. The senior medical missionary couple from the mission attend and help determine if the child needs further medical attention. I was able to help on Saturday along with other senior couples. Each mother receives a bag of nutritious food to take home and she and her children receive lunch.
Here is picture of all the seniors in the mission when Elder Silva and his wife came. The only other single sister had to leave 2 weeks ago because of health. So I am now the single single sister. We have started a Friday night tradition where we all go to dinner together. Two weeks ago we went to a Chinese restaurant and 17 of us sat around a huge round table with a lazy susan and helped ourselves to a variety of entrees. This past Friday we went to a Thai restaurant. They really are a fun group.
This Honda Fit looks like the first one I owned. Why didn't I ever think to do this?
They know how to pack tightly.
We had a farewell dinner for the Shumways at the Mission Home Last night. Copycat Cafe Rio. SO GOOD!! Goodbyes have not been easy here. They are our medical missionaries and I have grown to love them so much. Cindy is front, 2nd from left. Jed is back, 3rd from left.
I AM ON THE TOP ROW NOW AND THE NEXT TO GO HOME! 2 months and 3 weeks!
Elder Silva told President Davis that changes needed to take place concerning housing for our young missionaries. We currently have 2, 4, or 6 missionaries living in each house. He said that houses with 4 missionaries is not ideal and that 6 creates a party house. He told President that 2 missionaries living in a house is best because it allows for a true companionship. Therefore, we need 30 new houses/apartments in the mission. The Housing Coordinator, David and Nadine Payne have been out daily finding new houses. As a result, I have been and will be extremely busy until I leave in August. It takes a considerable amount of time over a period of a week or more to establish a new landlord. I am currently working on 7 and Nadine puts more paperwork on my desk everyday for a new landlord. I actually enjoy the work. I have worked an 8-4 job plus some Saturdays for most of this mission. I have loved it.
