Weeks 58-59

Sunday was an Easter I will never forget. Diana and I have served in the Arcturus Branch for the past 4 months. We worked in Primary. Diana taught the children Primary songs and I taught some lessons. We taught Sister Bakilli, the Primary President, how to conduct opening exercises, teach lessons and lead singing time. She is an amazing woman and wanted to learn all she could so that she could teach the children about Jesus Christ through music and lessons after we left. Easter Sunday was our last day there. The children sang “I Am A Child Of God” to us and the Sisters sang “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” We were both moved to tears. Those videos were too large to put here but they are on my Facebook page. I have one of them singing "Follow The Prophet" here.

I gave them crayons and coloring pages.

Later that evening, we had 10 missionaries at our apartment for Easter dinner. The Elders sang “Gethsemane” to us. I felt the Savior’s love for me and all of mankind this day. I am thankful for the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ that will make it possible for me to, indeed, meet these people again someday.

The week before Easter, I went with President and Sister Davis to Mutare for the Mutare Zone Conference.  It is about 3 1/2 hours away, the farthest zone from Harare.  President asked me to take about 10 minutes to tell them about about joining the Church when I was 23. I love interacting with these young Elders and Sisters so much.

We stayed at Jacobs Ladder Bed and Breakfast for 2 nights.  It is over 100 years old. It is located on a long drive off the road and feels secluded from the world.

Mossy and her husband, Peter, own it.  This is where all the senior missionaries who come to Mutare stay.  Breakfast and dinner are cooked and served by Mossy, who is a fabulous cook.  Everything was delicious.

President and Sister Davis are so fun to be around.  A Mission President's work is never done so he worked in the backseat coming and going and Sister Davis and I talked the whole way.
The backyard is full of trees that are occupied by scores of monkeys.  I sat and watched them play for a long time.  I tried to get more pictures but they are too fast.  This one watched me for a while.

Mutare is nestled in a valley and is only about 3 miles from Mozambique.

Sister Davis and I went shopping for fabric.

On the way home, Sister Davis had to stop on the road to allow this baboon and his buddies to cross the road.

The Saturday before Easter, all of the senior missionaries were treated to a Passover meal and presentation.

This is my happy picture of the week.  These little girls are in line at our favorite grocery story with their own little buggy and their babies on their backs.
