Weeks 58-59

Sunday was an Easter I will never forget. Diana and I have served in the Arcturus Branch for the past 4 months. We worked in Primary. Diana taught the children Primary songs and I taught some lessons. We taught Sister Bakilli, the Primary President, how to conduct opening exercises, teach lessons and lead singing time. She is an amazing woman and wanted to learn all she could so that she could teach the children about Jesus Christ through music and lessons after we left. Easter Sunday was our last day there. The children sang “I Am A Child Of God” to us and the Sisters sang “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” We were both moved to tears. Those videos were too large to put here but they are on my Facebook page. I have one of them singing "Follow The Prophet" here. I gave them crayons and coloring pages. Later that evening, we had 10 missionaries at our apartment for Easter dinner. The Elders sang “Gethsemane” to ...

This week, Elder Rebo was looking at the Mission Board.  He told me he really didn't like his picture and felt a little embarrassed about it.  Most of these pictures are the ones they submitted with their missionary applications.  He was so happy when I told him I would take a new picture and put it on the board.  I love being able to help these young Elders and Sisters.  I am careful not to refer to them as "kids" or "boys or girls".  I have so much respect for them and the sacrifice they are making to work long days in an effort to teach the many, many people who want to hear the message they bring.  They are so appreciative of any little thing that is done for them.  I just love them.  Our first Sisters on bikes. This is one of the APs.  He was having fun with a mirror in the office on Monday.  It made me laugh and I took this picture.  On Friday, he had to swerve to prevent hitting a car that was coming towards him and his ...

Week 56

There were 347 baptisms in the mission in the month of March.  These are pictures from one of the weeks.  Debbie L (another single sister), Diana and I were approached by two different people at the market who saw our badges and wanted to know where the church was.  Our missionaries have more media referrals than they can keep up with. What is amazing about these baptisms is that the people are following through with the covenants that they made and are continuing to attend Church.  President Davis got a call from the Missionary Department in Salt Lake.  They wanted to know what we are doing to keep the Sacrament Meeting attendance so high among the newly baptized members.  I believe a big part of it is that these people in Zimbabwe are hungering for the messages of peace and love that the missionaries bring.  They love to come to church!  I am thankful to be able to support our 180 young Elders and Sisters in this work that keeps them busy ...
