Week 33

Image
This is the Borrowdale Ward Primary.  They blessed us today with beautiful music and sincere testimonies of Jesus Christ.  I love being a part of this ward family.  I was also able to see two of my grandchildren in their Primary Program via Zoom.  I love being able to communicate with family via WhatsApp and Zoom.  I thank the geniuses who developed these technologies. Even though my nursery babes were not a part of the program, they were invited to come to the Primary room after the program for meat pies, cookies, banana bread, fruit and juice.  This is my little shadow, Lorraine, eating her meat pie.  She wasn't much interested in the cookies and banana bread.   While out walking this week, this little boy approached me and asked if he could walk with me.  I was delighted.  He is Michael and is 8 years old.  He walks alone about 40 minutes each day to get to school.  We walked together for about 20 minutes before w...

Week 32

This picture was taken this week.  Even though the temple looks almost finished, it is possible that it will be another year before it is dedicated.  I really thought I would be here when it opened, but it might not be by the time I leave at the end of August.  I am still hoping.   When new missionaries arrive, their first stop after leaving the airport is the temple. Wards and branches coordinate transportation and come to the temple. These friends were baptized last week.  The baptismal font is at the missionaries' apartment away from the chapel.  I don't know how far, but 60 ward members chose to walk or get a combi to attend the baptism.  These are just a few of the 250+ new members of the church in the mission this month.   This is Lauren, the Mission President's daughter.  When she visits the different wards and branches with her parents, she and Sister Davis are often asked to help in Primary.  In the first picture...

Week 31

I am now at my new desk in the front office.  I am going to like this.  My previous office was very small.  This is a bigger room and bright.  The front door is almost always open and missionaries and others are in and out much of the day.  I will keep paying rents but will have lots more responsibilities.  Not a problem because I like staying busy and interacting with the many people who come to the office.   A favorite English Connect student.  I will gradually cut back on teaching and will be completely finished when Bonnie leaves in December.  A missionary couple coming in January will take over. Helping with Zone Conferences is always fun. President and Sister Davis invited the senior missionaries to their house for cake, milkshakes and fun.  I love them! Many people in Zimbabwe are hearing the missionaries' message of Jesus Christ and the Restored Gospel and want to be baptized.  However, many of them are married ac...

Week 30

Family Home Evening was at our apartment.  Diana is the decorator and the chef.  I led the disussion.  The senior missionaries meet every other week for FHE.  They are a fun group and I love socialising with them.  Among these couples are the Humanitarian Missionaries, the Temple Missionaries who oversee the construction of the temple, the Medical Missionaries and the Fleets and Flats Missionaries who are responsible for vehicles and apartments.  The 5 single sisters all work in the office.   That is all of the pictures I have for this week.   I am in-training for my new job.  In December, I will be the Front Office Secretary when Bonnie goes home.  I have already moved to the big desk there so I  can observe Bonnie and learn the many things that go on..  I will still pay the rents and deal with landlords so I will be very busy.  Time will no longer allow me to teach English Connect.  There is so much that g...
