Week 18

 The happiest 50 minutes I had this past week was in Nursery this morning.  One little girl wanted to play with my badge.  I showed her how I could put the back  magnet on a table and if she put the badge close to it, the magnet would "jump" onto the badge. She laughed so hard.  The other two children heard her laughter and wanted to see what was going on.  They all ended up belly laughing as they held the badge and saw the magnet jump on.  What a fun morning.  We had a lesson about Jesus calming the storm and they loved watching the Bible Video about it.  




This is Godfrey.  He has a table at a small market the single sisters and I go to often.  He does beautiful woodwork and I have bought some items from him to take home as gifts for family.  He is so kind and gracious.  Every time I buy something from him, he puts his hand over his heart and thanks me many times over.  


During my morning walk, I often see people in this area where there are some big trees.  They are gathering wood to sell.  These pictures were taken on two different days.  These good people do what they can to try and provide for themselves and their families.  I always ask them if it is okay if I take their picture and share them with family and friends.  They are always happy for me to do so and smile when I show them the pictures.  







I buy my tomatoes from stands on the side of the road.  They are fresh and delicious.  Much better than what I can buy at the grocery store.  I get 5 big tomatoes for $1.  I give them a tip and I get a smile and a "Bless you Madam" in return.   




These are high school students I pass frequently on my walks.  She is Mnora and he is Binashi.  I look forward to their waves and smiles on some school mornings.  Mnora waits for a ride.  Binashi walks each day.  I am not sure how far he has to walk but I pass him at about 6:15 AM.  

Zoom meetings with Elder Santos are always fun.  His English is improving thanks to a wonderful companion who helps him so much.  

I love visiting the markets and always find something for myself or gifts for family and friends.  I found this wrap around skirt that I love.

Weeks 58-59

  Sunday was an Easter I will never forget. Diana and I have served in the Arcturus Branch for the past 4 months. We worked in Primary. Diana taught the children Primary songs and I taught some lessons. We taught Sister Bakilli, the Primary President, how to conduct opening exercises, teach lessons and lead singing time. She is an amazing woman and wanted to learn all she could so that she could teach the children about Jesus Christ through music and lessons after we left. Easter Sunday was our last day there. The children sang “I Am A Child Of God” to us and the Sisters sang “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” We were both moved to tears. Those videos were too large to put here but they are on my Facebook page. I have one of them singing "Follow The Prophet" here. I gave them crayons and coloring pages. Week 50

 We gave each Primary child a CTR ring last week.  They were so excited!  Most of them came to church wearing them today.  These little girls are so happy to have these rings.  Even those who do not speak or understand English well know the ring reminds them to "Choose The Right".   This is President Bongani Moyo.  He is employed by the mission to make sure passports and visas are updated for all 180+ missionaries.  He is also a Stake President in our mission. He is frequently in the office working at a table in the lobby where my desk is.  This past week, he told me his story.  I find it amazing and hope you do as well.   He was born in Zimbabwe and has lived here all of his life.  He and his siblings were raised by a single mother.  She took them to a Pentecostal Church.  At the age of 13, he met the missionaries and accepted their invitation to attend church.  On his very first visit, he says he felt...

Week 54

We got 10 new missionaries this week.  I do a short orientation presentation with them at the office before they go to the Mission Home for dinner and further orientation.  I love being able to meet all the many missionaries arriving.                           These fabulous APs spent lots of time at the airport this week. We had  missionaries 10 go home this week.  They were so excited.  I am always a bit sad to see them go but so happy for them at the same time. Transfer day is every six weeks.  It is the happiest of all days at the office.  Lots of hugs and back slapping when they see friends and former companions.                   Diana and I love the hugs and smiles we get each Sunday from these Primary children.                                 ...
