Week 13

Yesterday, Bonnie, Lori and I left at 10:30 to go to Epworth to help some sisters with family history.  We put the address in our phones and headed out.  It said we would arrive in about 30 minutes.  Google Maps took us onto dirt roads with rocks too big to go over and holes too big to go through, but little room on either side to go around. We turned around and tried to get Google to re-route.  We ended up not knowing where we were and Google not helping.  After an hour we finally got to the town of Epworth but could not find the chapel.  Again, Google was no help.  We were about to go home (if Google would tell us how to get there) but pulled to the side of the road and Bonnie said a prayer.  We drove for about 5 minutes and look who we saw standing on the side of the road.  They got in the car and showed us how to get to the chapel.  While driving, they sang to us.  Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing and The Spirit Of God.  I wish I could attach videos here.  They were amazing!

After going down another dirt road and around rocks and holes, we arrived at the Epworth Branch Chapel.

Lots of people were there.  Some cleaning and setting up for Sunday, some just visiting with friends.  This sister on the left was so excited to see her picture after I took it.  She giggled like a school girl.  She was delightful!  The sister on the right was showing me around and introducing me to people.

This is the Primary Room.  The sister with the hat was scrubbing the floor when we came in.  She was so proud to tell me about her son who is serving a mission in the other Zimbabwe mission.

This is a classroom for the little ones.

This is a garden behind the chapel to help the members who need food.  It is a green that they boil with vegetables.  A few people were working in it.

This precious little boy is enjoying eating his piece of bread,  He DID NOT enjoy seeing me.  He screamed and hid behind his grandma.  They don't see many white people.  I think my white hair makes me even scarier.

We did see some interesting things along the way during our adventurous drive. These interesting rock formations are found all over the place.  I can't figure out how that could happen.  I also can't figure out why someone would live right under it.

They try to sell whatever they can.

They saw me taking pictures.

She is knitting.  Probably making something to sell.

This is the last sewing session making the sanitary pads for girls and women,  Shenny, sitting on the table, is leaving with her family to stay in their home in Utah for the summer.  Her husband works at the US Embassy and they stay in the states when the kids get out of school each summer.
