Week 1
Thursday was another busy day at the office learning more about rent payments and beginning to learn about teaching English Connect classes. Thursday evening, I joined the Zoom group of each of the one hour English classes.
When I woke up Friday morning, there was no electricity. That is not unusual here. Electricity is often out most of the day due to the very, very severe drought. I will talk about that another time. However, our apartment has solar energy so when the electricity is out our solar reserve becomes available. Not so Friday morning. There was no power at all, which meant there was no internet and no water. A quick refresh with bottled water and soap and hair in a ponytail and I was ready to go.
Sister Turley teaches simplified piano lessons to many in the mission. The Church provides keyboards to students who are learning. They learn to play simplified hymns so that they can play in their wards or branches. I went with her and another sister to a lesson Friday afternoon in a Branch outside of the city. This branch has no piano or keyboard so these young people will be able to provide music in Sacrament Meeting.
The Branch President was there with his precious daughters. I am posting these pictures with his permission.
