International Driving Permit

 I have my International Driving Permit.  I will have to learn to drive on the left side of the road before I can use it.

Week 60

Diana left on Friday.  I will miss her greatly.  We became very good friends.  But I do have the house to myself until the week before I leave. I like that.  We had a nice going away dinner for her the Sunday before she left.  I did a "roast" and poked fun at the both of us.  It was a fun send off in honor of a great woman.                                           With President and Sister Davis the day she left. That same Sunday morning, we went back to the Borrowdale Ward where we served from May- December 2024 so she could say goodbye to the many friends we had met there.  I served in Nursery and Diana in Primary.  This little girl was so excited to see her when we got out of the car that she came and jumped in her arms.   I loved being back there so much and felt that was where I needed to serve until I leave in August....

I'm Here!

 I got to my apartment around 10PM yesterday.  The first picture is of the Nambi Desert near Johannesburg.  The second picture is me with Evelyn.  She has a booth at an outdoor market.  I bought the basket I am holding from her.  I told her she was the first person I had bought something from in Zimbabwe.  The people I have met today have been so kind and polite.   I'm not feeling any jet lag.  It has been a great first day.

Week 56

 There were 347 baptisms in the mission in the month of March.  These are pictures from one of the weeks.  Debbie L (another single sister), Diana and I were approached by two different people at the market who saw our badges and wanted to know where the church was.  Our missionaries have more media referrals than they can keep up with. What is amazing about these baptisms is that the people are following through with the covenants that they made and are continuing to attend Church.  President Davis got a call from the Missionary Department in Salt Lake.  They wanted to know what we are doing to keep the Sacrament Meeting attendance so high among the newly baptized members.  I believe a big part of it is that these people in Zimbabwe are hungering for the messages of peace and love that the missionaries bring.  They love to come to church!  I am thankful to be able to support our 180 young Elders and Sisters in this work that keeps them busy ...
